The map above is color-coded to indicate the forecasted risk level of rip currents. Rip currents are powerful, narrow channels of fast-moving water that flow away from the shore. They typically extend from the shoreline, through the surf zone, and beyond the line of breaking waves. Rip currents can occur at any beach with breaking waves.
If you get caught in a rip current, swim parallel to the shore until you are out of the current. Always follow the guidance of local beach patrol and flag warning systems.
